Building your wedding photography business has been both exhilaratingly fun and at times, stressfully overwhelming.
Now that you’ve got a brand that brides (and grooms) absolutely LOVE and rave about (yay!!), you’re struggling to keep your head above water with endless hours of photo editing.
A good problem to have! But still one that needs to be solved so you can keep providing the BEST experience for your couples on one of the most important days in their life, right?
And ‘cuz you’d like to still have a personal life too!
(And you totally should!)
Imagine if you could take all those hours editing your photos and hand them off to someone who could edit them just the way you would?
What if you could cut your editing time down from 10+ hours for each wedding down to only a few hours?
What could you do with those extra hours?
Spend it on improving your website and lead-generation?
Get on more calls with potential brides?
Play with your kids in the backyard?
Go on a date with your hubby?
Or just get some extra sleep?
I’m Erika, a private photo editor for wedding photographers who desperately want to clone themselves so they can get back their “me time” while still up-leveling their business to provide luxury experiences for their brides and grooms.
Through my personalized, one-on-one wedding photo editing service, 15+ years of customer service experience, and passion to provide a high-quality service for my clients, I’m here to help you sprinkle your fairy dust on other parts of your business by getting you that “me time” to recharge your creativity.
The people I’ve worked with in my Customer Service life have described me as “so happy and helpful” and having “a positive attitude and a get it done approach.”
My promise is to bring this same energy and approach to my private photo editing clients as well!
I specialize in what is very broadly called “light and airy” or “classic and traditional” in the photography world.
These styles are very joyful and romantic with the bright and light, so timeless with the classic and clean or natural and traditional.
I’m a naturally happy kind of person so this style really “speaks” to me and how I look at life.
I’ve been a photographer for the past 20+ years, trying my hand in different genres including wedding photography, portraiture, nature & landscapes, and pet photography. (Especially my own pets!)
Editing my own photos digitally became a happy pastime long before I knew private photo editors existed!
For Weddings and Engagement Sessions
This service is based on two main things:
#1 - Anchor images provided by the photographer.
These are pre-edited images in the catalogs submitted that are an example of what the photographer wants to the rest of the images to look like. Watch this video about anchor images!
#2 - Smart Previews built in Lightroom Classic. These are much smaller sized files than your RAW files that are super-easy to transfer back and forth.
Here's what you get in this service:
White balance color correction which adjusts temperature and tint, exposure, contrast, minor cropping and straightening to match your editing style and anchor images.
This wedding photo editing service is provided with Adobe Lightroom Classic and the use of Dropbox Plus for file exchanging.
Turnaround time is 5-7 days.
Here's what you don't get:
Retouching, spot removal, red eye, graduated filter, radial filter, and adjustment brush.
My goal with this service is:
To MATCH your anchor images with overall consistency and efficiency using the tools in Lightroom.
Does this sound like what you're looking for? If it does, I'd love to chat with you!
After you’ve decided to hire me as your private photo editor (yay!!), make sure you are up-to-date with the latest version of Lightroom Classic. This will prevent compatibility issues when we swap catalogs back and forth with each other.
We’ll set up a simple system to exchange images through Dropbox Plus. I'll setup a shared folder so we can both upload Smart Preview files.
Everything is done over the internet!
Organize your photos into collections (recommended), pre-edit your anchor images, label your anchor images, build the Smart Previews and compress the files so you can upload them to our shared Dropbox folder.
You’ll then schedule a time for me to edit a wedding catalog using my scheduler. It's super-easy, I promise!
Just be sure your catalog is in Dropbox a couple days beforehand.
I’ll take over, do the editing using the anchor images you provide along with any notes you give me for that specific wedding. There will be a notes & feedback document in your Dropbox folder you can put notes in -or just send me an email beforehand.
Once I'm finished editing your catalog, I’ll send the edited photos back to you in the form of Smart Previews via Dropbox. Then you can import my Smart Previews that have the edited photos into your Lightroom catalog. It's easier than it sounds, I promise!
Is this what you needed, like, yesterday?
Contact me so we can talk about how this can help you and your business!
#1 - To match your photo editing style and aesthetic.
#2 - To always be learning and improving my service to you.
According to PetaPixel, wedding photographers spend 55% of their time on photo editing and only 4% of their time actually photographing. That's a lot of time you could get back by hiring a private photo editor like me.
WeddingWire shows that on average couples spend nearly half their wedding budget on photography. You're a huge part of their wedding! Get the support YOU need to provide the BEST for your couples. Hire a private photo editor, yup, like me, to help you!
Your photography style is the most important factor to 60% of couples, according to The Knot. Hiring a private photo editor who specializes in YOUR style is key to building a well-running, working relationship that provides consistent results. If your style is classic, traditional, natural or bright and airy, I'm your girl!
What are anchor images?
Anchor images are photos you, the photographer, edit to be an example of what you want the rest of the photos in that section to look like. Typically, you would provide an anchor image any time the scene changes.
How much does your photo editing service cost?
It varies depending on how many images are edited, but in very general terms, it’s around the average cost of a groom’s cake. Please contact me directly - I'd love to discuss more specific numbers!
Do I have to use Lightroom Classic?
Yes, in order for us to easily share catalogs of images, I use Smart Previews in Lightroom Classic, which you would need to be using too. It's all done over the internet, which makes everything convenient for both of us!
Can you do this in PhotoShop?
Nope, all the photo editing I currently provide is in Lightroom Classic. I started with PhotoShop (it's my first love) and discovered that Lightroom actually makes editing photos more convenient and faster than in PhotoShop - especially for big projects like weddings.
Do you offer culling or retouching services?
Not yet, but I may be in the future. Stay tuned!
Will you edit for "dark and moody" style wedding photographers?
While I do love the dark & moody styles, I specialize in the classic, traditional or light & airy styles. I want to give my BEST to each client I edit for and my best is going to be in the brighter styles.
Currently, I’m building up my private photo editing business part-time so openings are limited! I’m booking for the 2021 season but also taking on projects for the remainder of 2020.
